MITCHELL STREET ARTS

Promoting creative abundance in Milwaukee

  • Public Programs

Ranging from experimental creative programs like south baths and authentic movement to more traditional art classes in our makerspace such as ceramic, figure drawing, wood working, and darkroom photography. MiSA hosts over 500 programs a year and all programs are free or donation based.

  • Artist Residencies

We host a variety of iterative, unique residency programs aimed at supporting Milwaukee’s arts scene. All residencies are competitive juried programs open to Milwaukee based artists.

  • Community Gallery

The MiSA gallery showcases Milwaukee based outside artists, innovative group shows, and the work of our artists in residence. As a nonprofit, the organization is proud to support the city’s arts sector by taking no commission on works sold.

  • Partnerships

MiSA believe’s everyone should have access to creative programs, especially those who can benefit the most from creative outlets. We partner with prison reentry programs and immigration groups to provide unique art therapy programs.

Creative Abundance

[kree-AY-tiv ə-BUHN-dəns] Adjective

  • A vision of society in which the arts are fully accessible to everyone, seen as essential to daily life rather than a luxury—supporting a world where creativity is nurtured in all people and valued as a tool for building a just, thriving community.

  • The use of artistic expression as a widely available mental health resource, where practices like music, visual arts, dance, and storytelling are integrated into public health and education systems to support emotional well-being.

  • A social framework that recognizes the arts as a powerful way to connect people across cultures, generations, and life experiences—fostering mutual understanding, empathy, and a shared sense of humanity.
